FAQ

A few details about how Human Mark handles AI tools, verification, and renewals.

Can I use any AI at all?
Yes – but the certified work itself cannot be generated by AI. Editing, mastering, color correction, or cleanup tools are fine. Full AI-generated art, lyrics, or compositions are not.
How do you verify my work?
We review your files, links, and process description. In some cases we may ask for behind-the-scenes details (sketches, stems, drafts) to understand how the work was made. As part of this process, you must sign a legally binding declaration confirming that AI was not used to generate the certified work itself. Once approved, your certificate includes a QR code that links to an online verification page so others can confirm it too.
How does the QR code work?
Each certified work receives a unique QR code that points to a dedicated online verification page. Anyone can scan the code from your packaging, cover, poster, or profile to confirm that the work has been certified by Human Mark as 100% human-made.
Do certifications expire?
Individual piece certifications do not expire, but membership is yearly. If your process changes, you agree to keep your use of the Human Mark seal honest and aligned with our standard.

Important: This template is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. You should have this document reviewed and customized by a qualified attorney in your jurisdiction before using it.

This No-AI Creation Declaration & Certification Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into between the undersigned creator (“Creator”) and Human Mark (“Human Mark”) in connection with the review and possible certification of the work(s) identified below (each, a “Work”).

  1. Identification of Work.
    Creator represents that the following work(s) are being submitted for Human Mark certification: title(s), description(s), and relevant links or files (the “Work”).
  2. No-AI Creation Statement.
    Creator hereby declares, represents, and warrants that:
    • The Work was not generated, in whole or in part, by any generative AI system, model, or tool;
    • No AI system was used to generate text, images, audio, video, code, or other core creative elements of the Work;
    • Any tools used in the creation of the Work were limited to non-generative, assistive functions (for example: editing, color correction, noise reduction, mixing, file conversion, layout, or formatting); and
    • The Work reflects the Creator’s own human creativity, authorship, and decision-making.
  3. Ongoing Duty of Honesty and Update.
    Creator agrees to provide truthful and complete information about the creation of the Work and to promptly notify Human Mark if Creator becomes aware of any facts that would make the statements in this Agreement inaccurate or misleading.
  4. Use of the Human Mark Seal and QR Code.
    If the Work is approved, Human Mark may issue a certification and grant Creator a limited, revocable license to use the Human Mark seal, QR code, and related marks solely in connection with that certified Work. Creator agrees not to:
    • Use the seal or QR code on any work that has not been certified by Human Mark; or
    • Suggest or imply that non-certified works are Human Mark certified.
    The QR code may link to an online verification page hosted by Human Mark that displays the certification status of the Work.
  5. Review, Audit, and Additional Information.
    Creator understands that Human Mark may request additional information or materials (such as drafts, sketches, stems, project files, or process notes) in order to evaluate whether the Work meets its human-made criteria. Creator agrees to cooperate in good faith with reasonable review or spot-check requests.
  6. Consequences of Misrepresentation.
    Creator acknowledges that Human Mark is relying on Creator’s statements in this Agreement. If Human Mark reasonably determines that the Creator has made a false, misleading, or incomplete statement about the use of AI in connection with a certified Work, Human Mark may, in its discretion:
    • Revoke the certification for the Work;
    • Require Creator to cease all use of the Human Mark seal and QR code in connection with the Work;
    • Publicly note that the certification has been revoked; and/or
    • Decline to review or certify future works from the Creator.
    Nothing in this Agreement limits any other legal or equitable remedies that may be available under applicable law.
  7. Governing Law.
    This Agreement will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [insert state/country/jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
  8. Entire Agreement.
    This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between Creator and Human Mark with respect to the subject matter described herein and supersedes any prior or contemporaneous understandings, whether written or oral, relating to such subject matter.
